Commissioner's message-
Our office is committed to providing body corporate services an information, however the health and well being of our staff and customers is of the utmost importance to us. In response to the developing COVID-19 pandemic and advice provided by Queensland Health, we are implementing social distancing in the Office of the BCCM. Until further notice, we will not accept counter enquiries and you will not be able to inspect submissions about dispute applications in the Office.
While our office doors may be closed, you can still access our services. You can contact our information and community education unit via 1800 060 119 and dispute resolution service via bccm@justice.qld.gov.au.
Where possible we are asking that customers send any dispute resolution applications to bccm@justice.qld.gov.au. There may be a delay in processing applications sent by post.
Any further changes in our services will be announced in our newsletter and on www.qld.gov.au/bodycorporate.
We have been receiving an increase in calls regarding COVID-19, many of which are not within our jurisdiction. Unless there is a provision in body corporate legislation, we cannot provide information about the Federal Government guidelines or measures being put into place.
Bodies corporate are empowered to make reasonable decisions in the interests of owners and occupiers. Where there is no legislative provision, individuals who work or reside in community titles schemes may have to exercise their own good judgement when making decisions about their health and safety and that of their neighbours. We’ve prepared this update based on the questions we’ve been asked over the past few weeks. I hope you find it helpful.
The COVID-19 pandemic is changing each day and I would encourage bodies corporate to stay up to date with the latest information provided by Queensland Health.
